Optimization of anodizing process of tantalum for Ta2O5-based capacitors

2020

Anodic oxides were grown to 50 V on Ta in several organic ions containing anodizing baths. Their properties were compared with anodic Ta oxide film grown to the same formation voltage in 0.1 M NaOH. Anodizing process carried out in sodium citrate led to the growth of the anodic oxide with the best blocking properties whilst, when Ta is anodized in sodium adipate, a significant part of the circulated charge is wasted in side reactions, such as oxygen evolution. Photoelectrochemical measurements showed the presence of optical transitions at energy lower than the band gap for the anodic films grown in citrate and tartrate electrolytes, attributed to localized electronic states located close to…

Tantalum nitride thin film resistors by low temperature reactive sputtering for plastic electronics

2008

This article describes the fabrication and characterisation of tantalum nitride (TaN) thin film for applications in plastic electronics. Thin films of comparable thickness (50-60 nm) have been deposited by RF-magnetron-reactive sputtering at low temperature (100 °C) and their structure and physical (electrical and mechanical) properties have been correlated by using sheet resistance, stress measurements, atomic force microscopy (AFM), XPS, and SIMS. Different film compositions have been obtained by varying the argon to nitrogen flow ratio in the sputtering chamber. XPS showed that 5:1, 2:1 and 1:1 Ar:N 2 ratios gives Ta 2 N, TaN and Ta 3 N 5 phases, respectively. Sheet resistance revealed a…

Photoelectrochemical Synthesis of Polypyrrole on Anodic Ta2O5 Films

2007

Polypyrrole film was photoelectrochemically grown on insulating Ta2O5 anodic film in acetonitrile solution. A characterization by photocurrent spectroscopy PCS of metal/oxide/polypyrrole interface was carried out. The PCS results suggest that a metallic-like PPy is formed under illumination at constant anodic potential. By polarizing the polypyrrole at cathodic potentials a photocurrent spectrum typical of p-type semiconducting film was recorded. A scanning electron microscopy study of PPy surfaces solution side and oxide side allowed us to obtain information on the morphology of the polymer as well as a rough estimate of the film thickness and of the diameter of PPy globules at the two int…
